A New Era of Spring Basketball Tips Off March 2026

Belmar, New Jersey — Thursday, November 6, 2025 — The Jersey Shore Breaks are making waves once again — this time on a national stage. The team is officially joining the United States Basketball League (USBL), marking the start of an exciting new chapter in professional basketball at the Jersey Shore.

After more than a decade away, the historic USBL — long known as “The League of Opportunity” — is making its triumphant return, bringing spring basketball and fresh competition to passionate communities across the country. The 2026 season tips off this March, and for Breaks fans, that means one thing: it’s game time again.

Spring Basketball is Back — Stronger Than Ever

The newly revived USBL launches with at least 15 dynamic teams, including the Jersey Shore Breaks, set to face off against organizations such as the Bakersfield Majestics, Baltimore Rhythm, Capital Seahawks, Frederick Flying Cows, Las Vegas Stars, Lilac City Legends, Long Beach Blue Waves, New York Phoenix, Reading Rebels, Salem Capitals, San Diego Sharks, Seattle Super Hawks, Vancouver Bears, and Virginia Valley Vipers.

More franchises are expected to be announced as the league expands — but one thing’s already clear: the USBL’s comeback is set to reignite the energy of grassroots professional basketball across America.

For fans at the Jersey Shore, this means the return of high-intensity games, rising talent, and the electric atmosphere of live basketball — right in Belmar’s backyard.

Carrying the Legacy of “The League of Opportunity”

Founded in 1985 by the late Daniel Meisenheimer, the USBL became a launchpad for some of the game’s most iconic names. It served as a proving ground for players chasing their NBA dreams, with alumni including Muggsy Bogues, Manute Bol, Spud Webb, Anthony Mason, Darrell Armstrong, Mario Elie, and even legends like Nancy Lieberman and Randy Moss.

Over the years, more than 150 USBL players made it to the NBA, cementing the league’s reputation as a place where raw talent meets opportunity.

Now, as the league returns in 2026, that same mission drives every team — including the Jersey Shore Breaks — to bring inspiration, excitement, and opportunity back to local courts.

“Our goal is simple: to create opportunity and unforgettable game-night experiences. With strong teams like the Jersey Shore Breaks leading the charge, the USBL’s future looks brighter than ever.”— Ingrid Hutt, Executive Director, USBL
